Mount Osorakan

I joined the Gansu group to climb Hiroshima's highest mountain on Sunday, September 23rd 2001. After a 1 hour 40 minutes drive from Saijo to Togouchi IC Irina and I met with the group. Irina is a Master's student from Usbekistan at Hiroshima University. After all hikers had gathered together we  drove to the parking lot of the Osorokan skiing area, where the hike was supposed to start.

After some minor toilet problems had been solved we started to climb the mountain. It took us about 90 minutes to get to the top. As it was a beautiful,  sunny day everybody was glad that the main part of the hike was in the  shade of the forest. Exactly at midday I reached the top of the mountain and  as I was the first of our group to reach the top I was able to take some nice pictures of the whole hiking group  reaching the summit.

After an enjoyable  lunch all of us took lots of pictures to document our climb to the top of Hiroshimas highest mountain. The hight is 1346 meters. We enjoyed the view as well - as it was a clear and sunny autumn day we could see lots of other mountains.  However - after a short time we had to go down again, as  we had an invitation from Kaminaka sensei to visit his house. Unfortunately, I had to go back to Saijo, so I could not join them . But I am looking forward  to exploring another part of Hiroshima prefecture the next time I go out.
