Miyajima

Deutsch in Kürze... Since I came to Hiroshima two years ago I had the idea to go to that famous Island on a beautiful autumn day and to enjoy the view over the Seto Inland Sea from the top of Mount Misen. As the Gansu group's November hiking was scheduled to take place there on the 18th of November I took this opportunity and went there as well. This time some more students joined me again and we could even manage to arrive in nearly in time at the meeting point. The reason for the delay was not my birthday party, which took place the evening before, but Ana's special interpretation of left and right.

However, two people from the group were waiting for us and we could manage to take the ship which was ten minutes after the group's ship. So we met them at the pier on Miyajima Island and started to approach Mount Misen. There are lots of possibilities to climb that mountain, the most comfortable and expensive one is per rope way. I was wondering as we went right into that dorection, but after we passed the Momiji Park (Momiji means red autumnal leaves) and a toilet break we left the way and started to climb the mountain on a very small and unknown path. It was a great experience to climb the mountain without using steps and to be able to enjoy a nice view on Hiroshima bay and the Inland sea between the tree tops. Finally we reached the peak after about 90 minutes and we enjoyed a perfect panorama view as well as the lunch and the lunch break. As well we enjoyed that the clouds vanished and the sun finally came out to make a very good autumn day perfect.

After a one hour break the group was gathered together and we started the descent. At first we went to the west, to climb another peak and enjoy some more view of the surrounding area. As the time did not stop and it is a long way down we had to leave soon and went down a long path until we arrived at the beach again. There everybody introduced himself to the group and as my knowledge of japanese got a little better I could understand little more than the last time. I enjoyed a perfect hiking day with all old and new friends - Thank you and looking forward to see you the next time.
