Akyoshidai

A former corral reef is nowadays one of Japan's most beautiful landscapes - the Akiyoshidai Plateau. It is located in Hiroshima's neighbouring prefecture Yamaguchi, which means entrance to the mountains. Yamaguchi is the most western prefecture on Japan's biggest Island Honshu.

I visited this area with Kyoko in the humid summer heat. We enjoyed to enter the cool Akiyoshido cave which is the largest limestone cave in Asia, saw the plateu on the cave's roof, visited a safari park and went back to Hiroshima via the northern coast of Honshu.

Souvenir shops on the approach to the cave. The creek is ice cold which is really nice.

The entrance. The king of the cave. Stalactites.

The exit - in the meantime it got a little cool. On the cave's roof there is a wonderful view.

Also the tiger is hot. Returning along the japanese sea... ... we visit the famous Hornfels.
